Is it art?
I am amazed by the work of Marla Olmstead, a (now six year) old painter. She has been compared to Jackson Pollock and Picasso. There is controversy in the art world surrounding issues of genuine "art." A lot of conversation around the possibility that if a little kid could do it maybe Jackson Pollock wasn't such a genius. Maybe Marla is just a kid having fun with some paint. Or is she a child prodigy? A documentary titled: My Kid Could Paint That just came out about Marla. View her work here.

I wanted to watch that movie when it came out in the Osio theater in Monterey. I had seen the previews and I wanted to know more about this kid. Just last week I saw a 1 1/2 year old girl reading. She read and pronounced every word clearly. She had a 5 yr. old brother that didn't know how to read yet.Kids can do some pretty amazing stuff.
Wow, I've never heard of her! That's some pretty amazing art for a 6 year old. As a parent, we always think our kids are great artists when they bring home drawings from preschool but I'd have to say, this child is talented and I can't imagine anyone denying her natural gift. Thanks for sharing!
